RYERSON INDEXING PROJECT
The Ryerson Index is a project where death notices (from the 1970’s) are indexed from newspapers. These notices are freely available on line.
Our group members have been going to Sutherland Library where, thanks to the generosity of the Library, they photocopy free the appropriate pages from the St George and Sutherland Shire Leader to index.
The indexing is done at home on their computers and sent to the Ryerson Project to be merged into the main index. There are 27 members in the group and in
6 months, 12 very active members have indexed the death notices in the Leader from its inception in June 1964 to 2004 (where someone else has indexed from then to the present). There are nearly 11,000 death and funeral notices.
The indexers meet as needs require and any meeting dates appear in the Events Calendar link. The Ryerson Index can be viewed at:
