The first burial at Sutherland's Woronora Cemetery was in April 1895 and the Crematorium opened in 1934.

Provision was made at first for Roman Catholic, Church of England, Congregational, Presbyterian, Methodist and Baptist denominations and others added later as needed. There are War Graves and an AIF Memorial in the cemetery. Transcriptions, available on microfiche, were begun by volunteers of Botany Bay FHS in 1985 and completed in 1998

Each transcription gives the following details if found on the plaque or headstone: name, date of death, age, and inscription. The inscription column has been abbreviated to include relationships and other items of genealogical interest, but usually excludes such terms as 'In Loving Memory', or 'In remembrance of'.
